NTI Brand Boilers Recalled Due To Fire And Carbon Monoxide Poisoning Hazards

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recently announced the recall of NTI Brand Boilers due to fire and carbon monoxide poisoning hazards. The recall involves NTI-brand TRX Series II residential wall-mounted gas broilers with model numbers TRX150, TRX199, and TRX199C. The boilers are gray in color and measure about 20 inches wide and 34 inches high.
According to the CPSC, the boiler door can fail to seal properly, due to incorrect burner door studs, allowing flames and gases to escape and posing serious fire and carbon monoxide poisoning hazards that can result in death or serious injury.
The CPSC is advising consumers to immediately stop using the recalled boilers and contact NTI Boilers to arrange to have a certified technician install a repair at no additional cost to the consumer. Consumers who have to use the boilers while awaiting repair should have working smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in their homes, the CPSC advised.
Thus far, no injuries have been reported.
The boilers were sold by independent heating and plumbing contractors and wholesale distributors across the U.S. from September 2024 through February 2025 for between $3,400 and $4,100.
Understanding defective boiler injury lawsuits
Had anyone been injured by the aforementioned defective boilers, that individual would be entitled to sue the manufacturer who designed the defective boiler and the retailer who sold them the defective boiler. Such a claim would be filed under a theory of product liability. If the boiler was improperly installed or maintained, a negligence claim can be filed against the installer or maintenance company. If you are injured by a defective boiler on someone else’s property, you can file a premises liability claim against the property owner.
Types of boiler injury claims
- Boiler explosion – If a boiler explodes due to a manufacturing defect or improper installation, the injured parties can sue the manufacturer or installer for damages, including medical expenses, lost wages, and reduced quality of life.
- Burns from scalding water – A faulty boiler system can cause serious burn injuries. The boiler heats water above safe levels and can result in severe burns.
- Carbon monoxide poisoning – Boilers can malfunction and release carbon monoxide. Injured parties can sue the manufacturer or the party responsible for maintaining the boiler for negligence.
What should I do if I’m injured by a boiler?
You should immediately seek medical attention. It is crucial to get medical help as soon as possible to address your injuries. It will also help establish damages in your personal injury lawsuit if you choose to file one.
Next, you’ll want to preserve evidence of the defective boiler. Save any medical records, photos, and related documentation.
Lastly, you’ll want to contact a lawyer who specializes in product liability to evaluate your case and explore your legal options.
