Costway Recalls Babyjoy Convertible High Chair Activity Centers Due To Entrapment And Serious Injury Hazards

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has recently announced the recall of Costway’s Babyjoy Convertible High Chair Activity Center due to entrapment and serious injury hazards. According to the CPSC, the recalled high chair activity centers violate the federal regulations for high chairs and stationary activity centers. The CPSC maintains that the high activity centers pose a deadly entrapment hazard because the leg openings in the seat of the stationary activity center are too wide and a child can become trapped in it, which violates the federal regulation for stationary activity centers. In addition, the CPSC says the tray can disengage allowing a child to fall, which is a violation of the federal regulation for high chairs, and poses a serious injury hazard.
Consumers are advised to immediately stop using the recalled high chair activity centers and contact Costway for a full refund and instructions on how to return or dispose of the faulty product. Consumers can return the product by receiving a prepaid shipping label or provide photos of the destroyed product to recall@costway.com. Once Costway accepts receipt of the product or if you show them pictures of the destroyed product, Costway will issue a refund. Costway and Amazon are contacting all known purchasers directly.
No injuries have yet to be reported from the product. The high chair activity center was sold at Costway.com, Amazon.com, and Target.com from November 2021 through June 2024 for between $115 and $200.
Defective high chair lawsuits in Florida
Government regulators ensure the safety of children by enacting specific standards that consumer products should meet before they make it to market. Unfortunately, the process isn’t foolproof and that’s why we have a robust recall mechanism to ensure that defective and dangerous products don’t stay on the market once they get there.
In addition to pressure from government regulators, individual parents of children who are injured by defective high chairs can file product liability lawsuits if their child is injured or killed by a product that does not meet the government’s minimum safety standards.
High chairs are an essential product for every household with young children, but when they are poorly designed or manufactured, they can pose a significant threat. Parents generally trust that these products meet our rigorous safety standards, but the truth is, that not all of them do.
Accidents caused by faulty high chairs can lead to serious injuries that require immediate medical attention. In some cases, these injuries will require long-term care. Families are expected to deal with the fallout from an injury like this. But it causes trauma, emotional stress, and financial burdens. Know your rights. You can file suit against a negligent company that places a dangerous product into the stream of commerce.
