Werner Recalls 20’ and 24’ Multi-Max Pro Multi-Purpose Ladders Due To Fall Hazard

Ladder3

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recently announced the recall of Werner Ladders. On August 14, 2025, Werner Co., in coordination with the CPSC, issued a nationwide recall of around 122,250 units of their 20-foot and 24-foot Multi-Max Pro multi-purpose ladders, citing a serious fall hazard.

According to the recall, the problem stems from a faulty locking mechanism that can jam or fail to latch correctly, posing a risk of sudden collapse. The defect has already led to 18 reported falls, with 14 injuries, including bruises, lacerations, head trauma, and fractures to the wrist, leg, and ribs.

Which ladders are affected?

This recall encompasses Werner Multi-Max Pro ladders in 20’ and 24’ lengths with model numbers ALMP-20IAA and ALMP-24IAA only. These ladders are notable due to their silver frame, blue top, label on the side rail, and long black rope on the back.

Where and when were they sold?

These ladders were sold exclusively at Home Depot, both in-store and online. They were sold between November 2021 and February 2024. Prices ranged from approximately $200 to $281.

What should consumers do?

Consumers are advised to stop using the ladder immediately. Those affected should visit www.wernerco.com/recalls to register their ladder and receive instructions on properly disposing of it. Once the disposal is confirmed, the buyer can receive a full refund via check. As an alternative, purchasers can contact Werner at 888-624-1907 or via email at ladder@realtimeresults.ne.

Why it matters

Falls from faulty ladders can have devastating consequences, ranging from broken bones to traumatic brain injury. According to the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, ladder falls result in numerous serious injuries and even fatalities each year. This recall highlights the importance of product safety vigilance, especially when it comes to tools we use on a daily basis.
