Legend Brands Recalls Bliss Hair Dryers Over Electrocution And Shock Hazards

HairDryer

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recently announced the recall of Legend Brands’ Bliss Hair Dryers. According to the recall, the handheld hair dryers lack an immersion protection device, which can result in the user being electrocuted if the hair dryers fall into water. The electrocution hazard can cause serious injury or death to the consumer. In addition, the hair dryers are in violation of federal safety restrictions for hair dryers and “present a substantial product hazard.”

Consumers are advised to immediately unplug and stop using the recalled hair dryers and contact Legend Brands to receive a full refund. Consumers will be asked to destroy the hair dryers by cutting the cord and disposing of the product. Consumers will have to send a photo of the destroyed hair dryer to Legend Brands at support@shoptrakk.com. Legend Brands is also contacting all known purchasers directly.

Thus far, no injuries have been reported. The hair dryers were sold exclusively by Burlington stores nationwide from January 2025 through March 2025 for $20.

Defective blow dryer lawsuits

Defective hair dryers pose electrocution and burn injury hazards to unsuspecting consumers. There is currently a class-action lawsuit in Illinois regarding defective hair dryers.

Two women from Illinois filed a proposed class-action lawsuit against Conair concerning their Infiniti Pro Hair Styler Series 259Y. According to the allegations made in the lawsuit, the hair dryer can spark and catch fire, leading to burn injuries. The case was filed in Cook County.

The named plaintiffs claim they suffered burns on their wrists and forearms while blow-drying their hair using the Conair hair dryer. According to their lawsuit, Conair Corp. failed to warn customers concerning the product’s defects or injury risk despite having foreknowledge of them. The company stands accused of allegedly hiding information about the design flaw in an effort to prioritize profit, gain an edge over competitors, and mislead consumers about the safety of their product.

According to the complaint, the hair dryers had safety plugs that were supposed to detect a change in the electrical current. However, the plugs are alleged to be defective and malfunctioned during use, which allowed the hair dryer to spark and catch fire. In addition, the product was sold without proper instructions and failed to warn consumers about potential safety hazards.

The plaintiffs are seeking a jury trial and damages of more than $50,000 for their past and future medical expenses, and pain and suffering damages.
