Florida Auto Defects & Auto Fires Attorney

Auto defects / Auto Fires There are many types of potential automobile defects with the most well-known and oft-litigated being tire, air bag and seat belt defects. However, there are many other types of auto defects, some of which result in an automobile fire starting before, during or after an accident. These are almost always the result of a so-called fuel-system defect. Although fuel-system defects may not be plentiful as other automotive defects, the injuries and result can be just as serious, with thousands of post-collision fires killing and severely burning people on a yearly basis.

Automobiles are supposed to be designed to resist and withstand fires in the result of an accident. This should be the case regardless of the nature of the collision event. The fuel system is designed to stay in tact and protect those inside the vehicle from any potential further injury from an auto fire.

However, as with all other product defects, this does not always occur. Oftentimes, a fuel-system defect causes a fire to occur. These design defects can result from a defective location of the fuel tank, the design of the fuel cap, defective protection of the fuel line and fuel pipe and defective fuel pump switches.

Burn injuries are quite unique from other types of injuries. Victims must often endure painful and prolonged treatment. They may have to battle infections and repeated surgeries to minimize scarring. The consequences are oftentimes significant and disfiguring.

At Halpern Santos & Pinkert, P.A. we have over 30 years of experience in handling all types of product liability and burn-related cases.
