Florida Van, Bus & ATV Accident Attorney

There are many types of motor vehicles that travel the roadways of South Florida. These vehicles include traditional two and four door cars to vans, buses and all terrain vehicles (ATVs). When vehicles that are used to transport numerous individuals, such as vans and buses, are involved in a motor vehicle accident, the damage is oftentimes multiplied, as there can be many injuries to many individuals. The investigation and pursuit of claims related to these events can be complex and costly.

Vans:

Large passenger vans have been the result of many severe accidents in recent years. In particular, 15 passenger vans have been the subject of numerous serious and catastrophic accidents due to their propensity to rollover. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) found that 15 passenger vans rollover more than half the time they are involved in accidents versus one third of the time for all other motor vehicles. Additionally, government statistics revealed that between the years of 1997 and 2006, over 1,090 occupants of 15 passenger vans were killed in collisions. The vans are difficult to handle when fully loaded, have a tendency to rollover and once the van does rollover, it is not crashworthy. All of this has lead to a multitude of law suits and fatalities involving 15 passenger vans.

Buses:

South Florida, and in particular the Miami area, are filled with buses, including school, general city transportation and tourist buses. This means that busing accidents are relatively common and usually involve injuries to numerous individuals. Buses are considered “common carriers” in South Florida and bus operators are held to a higher degree of care so as to protect the safety of the passengers. Bus operators must ensure that there is not overcrowding/overloading on the bus and have a duty to drive responsibly.

ATVs:

In addition to vans and buses, ATV accidents are also very common in South Florida as there are miles upon miles of terrain to navigate off the beaten path, including the Everglades and beaches across the coast. Although these terrains may not follow the standard traffic laws, the rules of negligence still apply, thus making it essential to contact an experienced attorney should you or a loved one get injured in an ATV accident.

At Halpern Santos & Pinkert, P.A., we handle all types of van, bus and ATV related accidents. Each accident is unique, and requires the knowledge and expertise of dedicated attorneys.
