Florida Segway Recall Lawyer

Segway Inc. has recently announced a recall of popular scooters after dozens of reported accidents. If you were hurt using a Segway, you could have a legal claim for compensation. Any manufacturer who sells a defective product is liable under Florida law to injured victims, and other defendants could be on the hook for damages as well. Product defect cases are complex, however, even where a manufacturer admits there is a problem. Contact our Florida Segway recall lawyer today to discuss your case and learn more about possible compensation.

Hazardous While in Use

Segway issued the recall due to a defect which leads to a failure of the folding mechanism. The handlebars or stem will fold while the scooter is in motion, which can easily cause a person to fall off.

The recall applies to all Segway Ninebot Max G30P and Max G30LP KickScooters. The Ninebot is 46 inches long, 19 inches wide, and 47 inches in height. It also weighs 42 pounds. You can see the name “Ninebot” on the handlebars, as well on the foot platform.

The Max G30LP is 44 inches long, 19 inches wide, and 45 inches tall. It weighs 39 pounds.

Consumers have reported 68 total accidents which have led to 20 injuries:

  • Lacerations
  • Fractures
  • Abrasions
  • Bruises

Anyone who falls from the scooter while in motion can also suffer concussions, whiplash, back injuries, and more. Depending on the speed a victim was traveling, injuries could be serious.

Segway sold these scooters nationwide at Target, Walmart, Best Buy, and Costco. You might also have purchased a scooter from Amazon or a different online retailer. About 220,000 units were sold before Segway issued its recall in March 2025.

Consumers should immediately stop using the scooter and reach out to Segway for a free maintenance kit. The kit will help you tighten the stem so that it does not fall while in motion.

Injured victims should also reach out to an experienced personal injury law firm. Any defective product can lead to serious injuries.
