Tools / Toys / Gadgets / Machines
Defective product design or defective manufacturing can occur in nearly every product sold throughout the United States. For example, as you stroll up and down the aisles at any large store, such as Wal-Mart or Target, each appliance, toy, gadget, tool or machine could be the subject of a defective product claim. When a product is defective, it may lead to serious injury, such as deep lacerations or burns.
The safety of children is of a particularly high concern and should of the utmost priority in our society. Children are not always capable of realizing the potential danger or threat of a toy and thus may not be able to avoid a hazardous situation. Accordingly, one would hope that the manufacturer of toys would use the highest level of caution to prevent potentially defective toys to enter the market so as to best protect our children. However, this is not always the case and defective toy injuries continue to occur on an everyday basis. Some of the most common types of toy defects are from toy lead poisoning, sharp objects in the toys and children choking from toy parts.
Adults are also the subject of injuries due to defective products. Defective appliances and power tools have a history of causing serious and significant injury. These products often have sharp blades, which if defective can cause deep lacerations and catastrophic injuries. An example of dangerous and defective power tools or appliances are power saws or blenders that turn on without activation and injure an unsuspecting user.
At our firm, we have successfully handled all kinds of product defect cases involving injuries to individuals of all ages. Each of these cases is unique and can vary depending on the product, whether it is a toy, gadget, tool or machine, and the nature and severity of the injury.
